For Christmas, my parents surprised everyone with a trip to Disneyland! We have been so excited and counting down the days until we went. It finally came and last week we (all 29 of the Lyman crew) all made our way to California for the big adventure. Trent and I decided we wanted to try and go down a day early to hit Sea World. Marilyn's family also went early and brought my mom along. Last Tuesday night we loaded up the car and started our trek to warmer places. We made it to Vegas that night about 11:30 (UT time) and our friends the Palmberg's were nice enough to let us crash at their place that night. We got up bright and early and continued our journey to San Diego. We got to Sea World about 12:30 that afternoon and met up with Marilyn's crew. First up was the Shamu show! Scout was so excited to see Shamu and couldn't stop talking about it!
It was a little chillier than we would have hoped for and, yes, those are blankets on our laps!
The trainers told everyone to do this chant to get the whales to splash the audience and Scout was so cute lifting her arms up doing the "Shamu chant".
We actually were sitting in the splash zone, but luckily their splashes didn't quite reach us ever.
And of course when I told Scout to look at me for a picture, this is what I got! Her new favorite thing is to stick her tongue out at anyone and everyone (including complete strangers who just happen to be standing behind us in line at A&W minding their own business, but that's another story).
Shamu, and the other whales, were awesome! After the whale show we went to find some more creatures to look at.

A little later, we went and watched the dolphin show.
And then onto the Sea Lions.
The Sea Lions were actually really funny. They would just slide around on that stage thing up there and were just funny little guys.
We also found a few little rides for the kids to ride on. I made Trent take them because I was pretty sure my stomach couldn't handle even the little kid rides.
There was also a little pond thing with star fish and other sea aneminies that you could touch and Maxon got brave and pet the star fish.
And then....
We had all had enough and it was time to go!
The kids were super tired from lack of sleep the night before, driving in a car for 10 hours, and no naps, and that made the day a little more exhausting than it should have been, but we still had lots of fun! We said goodbye to the animals and left to find some dinner at a yummy place we had eaten at in San Diego when we were there a couple years ago, Rockin Baja Lobster grill!! mmm, sometimes I dream about those shrimp tacos!
